Ian Hunt
BDS MFGDP(UK) Dip Rest Dent (Rcs Eng)
Ian was born and educated in South Manchester. He went to Manchester University to study dentistry in 1986 obtaining his BDS in 1991 and started working part time at The Maple Road Practice soon afterwards as an associate for Mr Thomas and also at a practice in Burnage Manchester. Ian bought the practice in 1999 and is now there full time. Ian has a keen interest in implant and restorative dentistry with special interest in Endodontics (root fillings). Ian is active in postgraduate education obtaining his Membership of General Dental Practice in 2003 and in 2006 being one of the first to obtain a Diploma in Restorative dentistry awarded by the Faculty of General Dental Practice. Ian is a member of the North West division of FGDP.
He has developed the practice in the last decade to make it one of the leading establishments in the North West. Caring for all types of clients young and old. He has tried to establish a family practice but has created a dedicated team with special interests in all aspects of dentistry. This means that all needs are covered to a high standard.
Ian is married to Andrea who is the Podiatrist/Chiropodist at the practice and they live in the Altrincham area. Ian Hunt is a keen sailor, member of a local gym and a football fan having played in the local leagues for many years he has now retired to the couch to watch it.
Associate Dentist
Jill Jagger
BDS, DGDP (Eng)
Jill Jagger was born and educated in Bradford, Yorkshire. She graduated from Manchester in 1975 with BDS and stayed on a further 6 months as a House Officer. Since then she has worked as an associate in Altrincham, then as a lecturer at the Manchester Dental Hospital and as a Community Dental Officer. Jill joined The Maple Road Dental Practice in 1984 as an associate and attained her Diploma in General Dental Practice in 1993.
She was secretary of the Local Dental Committee for six years and is currently secretary of the Society of Manchester Dental Alumni.
She is married with two grown up children. Her favourite occupations for "time out" are playing tennis for the local ladies team and hill walking with husband John.
Stephen Roberts
BDS (VU Manc)
Stephen graduated from the University of Manchester as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2006. He has worked at Maple Road Dental Practice for over four years caring for existing and new patients.
Since graduating university he has been passionate about continually furthering and updating his knowledge and skills. He regularly attends various study groups and continual professional development events. He has recently completed the year long restorative course with the Centre for Advanced Dental Education.
Stephen takes pride in offering the highest standards in all areas of general dentistry. He has strong interests in aesthetic restorative dentistry and occlusion. Stephen has a particular motivation in providing beautiful and functional smiles for people unhappy with the appearance of their teeth.
Stephen is currently accepting patients requiring restorative treatments ranging from minimal intervention all the way to full mouth rehabilitations and smile makeovers.
In his spare time, Stephen enjoys many hobbies including computers, hi-fi, reading and sports including football, golf, cycling and squash.
Craig Jack
Craig Jack graduated from the University of Manchester in 2004 and following his VT year returned to the hospital where he completed his SHO training, during which time he gained his membership to the faculty of Dental Surgery the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh. He went on to work in two practices in Manchester area before joining the Maple Road Team in December 2007.
Craig has recently completed a taught masters Degree in fixed and Removable prosthodontics, from the University of Manchester, and has recently been invited back to teach the post- graduate students.
Craig works at the practice four days a week treating general dental patients but his particular interest lies in the provision of complete dentures, partial dentures especially the more complex cases requiring changes to the OVD.
Craig also regularly treats nervous patients for restorative and simple surgical dentistry utilising intravenous sedation where necessary.
Special interest in Oral Surgery and Implantologist
Chris Waith
Christian Waith graduated with honours from Manchester University in 2002. He also won the Edgar Houghton restorative prize and the BDA Young Clinician award for Manchester. After VT he worked as a member of the Central Manchester maxillofacial team for three years during which time he passed the MFDS examination.
His maxillofacial work continued at locum registrar level for a year at Walsgrave (Coventry) and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. After eighteen months as a Staff Grade (OMFS) at the Countess of Chester he became Speciality Dentist in Oral Surgery at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Manchester Dental Hospital. He now lectures and is a clinical teaching fellow in oral surgery and sedation to MSc and undergraduate students.
Chris is a SAAD qualified sedationist and has completed the TC Ucer implant certificate. He is a mentor for the Astra system, a lecturer for Geistlich biomaterials and is active in postgraduate education both learning and teaching. He is a member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons, the Society for Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry, the International Team for Implantology and the Association of Dental Implantology.
Sim Ryatt
Graduated from Manchester Dental school in 2004. She has worked in the North West since then and has recently joined our team.
Continual professional development is very important to Sim and she has completed a three year long restorative course. Sim also places emphasis on techniques in dentistry that are minimally invasive. Sim is also qualified to provide Invisalign, which is a type of 'clear brace'.
Sim enjoys all aspects of dentistry and finds it particularly rewarding when gaining the confidence of extremely nervous patients, both child and adult.
In her spare time Sim regularly goes to the gym, is a keen walker and loves the outdoors. She plays tennis when she can and enjoys fine food and wine.
Podiatrists
Andrea Hunt
BSc (Hons), SRCh, MSCh
Andrea Hunt was born in Manchester in 1968, later moving to Warrington where she spent most of her educated years. Graduated from Salford University School of Podiatry in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. As a student she represented the Student body for the Society of Podiatrist and Chiropodist playing an active part in the Politics and Government issues surrounding Podiatric Practice. After graduating she worked as a Student Supervisor at the University and then to work for local Health Authority.
Andrea now works as a Private Practitioner at The Maple Road Dental Surgery.
Andrea is married and they have three children Thomas Alexander and Harriett. Her leisure time is taken up walking her dog- attending the gym and entertaining.
Clinical Manager
Helen Moloney
Helen was born and educated in Timperley and joined the practice in August 2009.
Helen’s role within the practice is clinical manager and care coordinator she ensures the smooth day to day running of the surgeries and devotes her time to the care of all our patients treatments needs.
Helen has many years of experience in dental nursing, as she has worked in a large expanding specialist centre and general practice for over 14yrs.
From a young age Helen has always been an extremely keen horse woman, competing most weekends, from local level up to county either in Dressage or Side Saddle with her two beautiful talented horses.
Dental Health Educator
Corrie Finn
Corrie was born and educated in Trafford and has worked at Maple Road Dental Practice for over 4 years.
Corrie qualified as a dental nurse in 2005, she has since achieved her certificate in Oral Health Education and has recently done a qualification in fluoride application. Corrie is able to offer tooth brushing and diet advice, application of fluoride varnish and advice on what products are best to use to gain effective oral health.
Hygienists
The hygienist's main role is to provide professional cleaning of the teeth for the patient. This is usually called scaling and polishing. However, perhaps their most important role is the education of the patient in the best way to keep the teeth free of plaque. Our hygienists work closely with the dentists and nurses to provide care tailored to your needs.
Office Manager
Nicola Barnard
Nicola was born and educated in the sale area has been at the practice many years originally employed as a Dental Nurse by Pip Thomas .Then having left to further her career at the Dental Hospital. Nicola returned to the practice in 1990.In 2003 Nicola achieved a Diploma in Practice Management. Nicola is responsible for the smooth running of all our in-house systems and administration of all our areas of compliance.
Nicola also works for the British Dental Association as Regional Consultant supporting other dental practices in achieving the good practice scheme.
In her spare time Nicola has many hobbies including Tennis for the south west Manchester League, badminton and swimming.
Registered Dental Nurses
Christine Deakin, Corrie Finn, Jenny Crewe, Clare Dunne, Tina Weston, Faye Walsh, Kate Gordon.
All our dental nurses are registered with the General Dental Council. We have nurses qualified in the following areas, Oral Health Education, IV Sedation and Radiation.
